Prerequisites:

This course has been evaluated by the CA Water Board as an accepted prerequisite for enrolling in a QSP certification course. Your certificate will be the proof of completion and will allow you to sign up for one of the QSP certification courses available.

• Clean Water Act (CWA) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
• Pollutant Drivers

Section 3 -

Source Control BMPs

• Selection, installation and maintence considerations for Operational, Perimeter, and Covering BMPs.

Section 4 -

Conveyance BMPs

• Selection, installation and maintenance considerations for BMPs that move water through a project.

Section 5-

Treatment BMPs

• Explore Environmental Water Treatment (EWT) technologies including design considerations, operations and the use of flocculants.

Section  6 -

Spill Control

• Creating a spill plan and knowing what sorbents are effective for materials you have on site.

Section 7 -

QSP and QSD Considerations

• An interview with MC Environmental Solutions that discusses considerations for QSPs and QSDs preparing to enter the industry.

Section 8 -

Case Studies and Examples of In-Field Inspections

• We will use other projects to discuss successes and failures and how we might manage differently in those circumstances.

Section 9 -

Inspections Exercises

• You will participate in site inspections and get a sense of what scenarios you may encounter as a QSP on sites you inspect.

Section 10 -

BMP Demonstrations

• We walk through BMPs as a show-n-tell and then see different classes install them and test them against a mock storm event.

Course Expectations:

There will be exercises that will be required to be completed and you must pass the exam with a greater than 70% passing grade to get your certificate. Upon the date of registration, you will have 5 days (including weekends and holidays) to complete the course. Not completing the course in this time period will require re-registration.
